• Helping to improve the effectiveness of governing boards

  • Clarifying the role of governing boards, strengthening their organization design, improving the functioning of board committees, improving relationships between governing boards and chief executive officers and clarifying relationships between governing boards and affiliates

  • Assisting in sharpening communications within governing boards, between governing boards and chief executive officers, between governing boards and affiliates and with external constituencies and stakeholders

  • Helping to delineate medium- and shorter-term board goals and objectives

  • Evaluating the performance of the chief executive officer and key executive staff

  • Evaluating the performance of governing boards

  • Assisting in the development of specific governance goals and objectives for inclusion in institutional strategic plans

  • Assisting boards think through, explore, negotiate and complete mergers and such other forms of institutional relationships as affiliations, alliances and partnerships

  • Counseling and mentoring board chairs on a variety of topics, including their roles, their expectations of board performance, improving board performance, clarifying their relationships with and expectations of chief executive officers, adding new board members and managing challenging board members effectively.

    In addition, the senior members of the firm have held leadership positions on major nonprofit boards and have dealt directly with complex governance issues.
